Introduction

The importance of a word depends on its source or speaker. Likewise, the extent to which you can trust and rely on a person's words depends on their integrity. Long ago, God spoke many times and in many ways to people through His prophets (Hebrews 1:1). He is still speaking now and will yet speak. But it is important to know who God is. Before I start teaching about what God has said, I would like to spend some time on who God is.

Who is God?

In John 4:22, Jesus said that people worship what they don't know. This is still the case in Christianity today. Many people are worshiping God, praying to God, giving to God, and performing various services for God, yet they don't truly know Him. As Daniel 11:32b states, The people who know their God shall be strong and do great exploits. This means that our accomplishments in life as children of God depend on our understanding of God and the extent you know Him. While there are many gods in the world, I want to introduce you to the God of the Bible. God is indescribable and cannot be fully explained, as no one has seen Him before (John 1:18). In John 6:46, the Bible also says that no one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only He has seen the Father. Therefore, trying to describe God is like an ant trying to describe a human being - our human minds are too limited to fully comprehend God. However, God can be understood through His attributes, manifestations and activities. The first nature of God I want to dwell on today is His eternal nature;

GOD IS ETERNAL

The word 'eternal' means without beginning or end. In other words, God has always existed and will always exist. 1 Timothy 6:16 tells us that God alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honour and everlasting power. Amen. Isaiah 57:15 says For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Psalm 90 verse 1-2 says Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. This implies that before your problems began, God has been in existence. Let me put is differently, your problem is not older than God. I will like to highlight some points about the eternal nature of God.

God's power is eternal

Romans 1:20 says, 'For since the creation of the world, His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse...' God is not only powerful, but His power is eternal. Some gods were powerful centuries ago but are now powerless. The degree of God's power has not diminished. The same power that created the heavens and the earth is still available today to create anything that needs to be created in your life. God's power is eternal. God's power is not tenure-dependent, like in democracy, nor is it age-dependent, like in a monarchical system of government. His power is eternal. Hallelujah, praise God Amen.

His purpose is eternal

Ephesians 3:11 says, 'According to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.' Also, in the book of Acts 15:18, it says, 'Known to God from eternity are all His works.' Do you know that God's divine purpose for your life is eternal? No devil can thwart His divine purpose for your life, because God, who created you and designed your purpose, is eternal. Interestingly, many people are pursuing their purpose without God, who originates it, unknown to them that, without God, life has no purpose, and without purpose, life has no meaning; without meaning, life has no significance or hope. Without purpose, life is just motion without meaning, activity without direction, and events without reason( Rick Warren). Brethren, God's purpose is eternal. No scheme of man nor power of hell can hinder His purpose for your life. I know it for sure, because in Isaiah 14:24, the Bible says, 'The LORD Almighty has sworn, "Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will happen. Whatever God has said concerning you shall surely come to pass in Jesus name.

His love is eternal

The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: 'Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, with lovingkindness I have drawn you.' The love of God for you is eternal, not a temporary or conditional love. Not because of what you have done, what you can do, or what you will do. His love for you is forever and ever. Amen. God's nature is eternal, His love for you is eternal. Subsequently, we shall dwell more on 'God is love.' Beloved, God's love for you is eternal. Praise God

His dominion is eternal

Daniel 7:14: Then, to Him was given dominion, glory, and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom is the one that shall not be destroyed. In Psalm 103:19, the Bible says that The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, and His sovereignty rules over all. God's dominion is not space or time-bound. His dominion exceeds the origin of the universe. He has been reigning before the world was framed, and He will continue to reign eternally. Anything or any force that has been dominating your life, such as sin, sickness, anxiety, worries, loneliness, depression, poverty, lack of a job, are not eternal, nor do they have an eternal nature.

My Counsel

Beloved, God is eternal, His power, purpose, love, and dominion are eternal. With this in mind, being a child of this God is a privilege. If you have not yet given your life to Jesus Christ and become His child, you can do so now and become part of His eternal purpose, love, dominion, and power. God bless. *Kehinde Clement Lawrence *Parish Pastor
